The Mumbai leg of Season 4 of the tournament concluded today at Andheri Sports Complex, bringing out top 16 shuttlers from the city.

In the Boys Singles U-15 category, Siddharth Bhuta defeated Shailesh Singh with score 14-15, 15-9,15-7. In Girls Singles U-15 category, Anamika Singh defeated Harshada Gawade with score 15-11, 15-6.

Mr. Nipun Kaushal, Chief Marketing Officer, PNB MetLife said, “JBC as a tournament has grown to become one of the biggest annual national open-platform’s for young badminton enthusiasts. Mumbai has given us a tremendous response, with over 1051 participants. We hope to continue the momentum in other cities.  I want to congratulate the winners who showed such passion in their performance. We wish them all the best for the finale at New Delhi.”

The winners were felicitated by the Chief Guest Mr. Mangirish Palekar,former badminton player and Director at Shuttle Craze Academy, in the presence of Guest of Honour, Mr. Sundar Shetty, Secretary of Maharashtra Badminton Association and Mr. Mukund Kaveri, former badminton player and Chief Referee for Mumbai.

Mr. Palekarsaid, “PNB MetLife Junior Badminton Championship has proved to be a platform that nurtures and moulds young talent into future professional badminton players of the country.Such initiatives will encourage them to compete in professional and global platforms. I also want to congratulate all the winners today who would be going on to compete in the challenging finale in Delhi.”

PNB MetLife has partnered with the CRY Foundation as CSR Partner for this initiative. The objective is to use sports as an effective medium of empowerment for children and helping them undergo a transformational change. The competition helps in nurturing the right talent at an amateur level, thereby fostering their growth and ability to perform on a global scale. 

The next leg of this year’s championship is scheduled from 12thJuly in Hyderabad.
