Hyderabad, July 16, 2018: As many as 1100 skilled shuttlers from across the city impressed the audience with their performance on the final day of the PNB MetLife Junior Badminton Championship
The Hyderabad leg of Season 4 of the tournament concluded today at Gamepoint Hyderabad, bringing out top 16 shuttlers from the city.
In the Boys Singles U-15 category, A. Vamsi Krishna Raj came out as the category winner with a score 15-7, 15-11. In Girls Singles U-15 category, M. Meghana Reddy lifted the trophy with the winning score of 15-8, 15-10.
Mr. Nipun Kaushal, Chief Marketing Officer, PNB MetLife said, “JBC as a tournament has grown to become one of the biggest annual national open-platform’s for young badminton enthusiasts. Hyderabad has given us a tremendous response, with over 1100 participants. We hope to continue the momentum in other cities. I want to congratulate the winners who showed such passion in their performance. We wish them all the best for the finale at New Delhi.”
The winners were felicitated by the Chief Guest Mr. Pani Rao, President of Badminton Association of Telangana and International Referee.
Mr. Pani Rao said, “The spirited performance displayed by these children stands as testimony of the talent present in the country. PNB MetLife Junior Badminton Championship has done a tremendous job in giving the right platform to these children. They will not only get the right training but also encourage the young minds to take up badminton as a professional sport and bring glory to the nation”.
PNB MetLife has partnered with the CRY Foundation as CSR Partner for this initiative. The objective is to use sports as an effective medium of empowerment for children and help them undergo a transformational change. The competition helps in nurturing the right talent at an amateur level, thereby fostering their growth and ability to perform on a global scale.
The next leg of this year’s championship is scheduled from 14th July in Guwahati.
