    Aakarshi and Abhishek, U-17 shuttlers rein Supreme in Chandigarh finals of PNB MetLife Junior Badminton Championship Season 2

    Chandigarh, 12 Dec 2015: 2015: In the eagerly awaited Chandigarh finals of the PNB MetLife Junior Badminton Championship at Punjab University, (top seed) Abhishek Saini emerged victorious after a grueling match defeating Varun Trikha, 2nd seed in straight sets 21-17, 21-11 in Boys Singles U-17 category. With this Abhishek secured his place in the final tournament. Under Girls Singles U-17,in an exciting match, (top seed) Aakarshi Kashyap beat Unnati Bisht (Seed 2) in straight sets 21-11, 11-6. Not only this, the (top seed) Aakarshi Kashyap also dominated U-15 Girls Singles matches. Aakarshi made a strong comeback to victory after losing the second set defeating Unnati Bisht with scores 21-12, 19-21, 21-10. The tournament is organized in association with Sara Foundation (An organisation for the promotion of sports). PNB MetLife Junior Badminton Championship has been approved by Badminton Association of India (BAI) and is being conducted under the aegis of Chandigarh Badminton Association.

    Winners of the other categories including U-9, 11, 13, 15 in both boys and girls are set to give tough competition to other top seeds from other zones. Details with scores are as follows:

     

    Boys Singles U-9
    Kabir Kandwal displayed a calm and composed game to defeat Abhay Raj Jha in straight sets 21-7, 21-12.
    Girls Singles U-9
    Tanvi Sharma continued her winning streak and lifted the trophy by beating Saadia Sheikh in a 3-set match with scores 17-21, 21-14, 21-13.
    Boys Singles U-11
    Lakshay Sharma defeated Kabir Kandwal in straight sets 21-15, 21-13.

    Girls Singles U-11
    2nd seed Radhika Sharma defeated unseeded Ridhima Thapa in a gruelling match of 3 sets 20-22, 21-12, 21-9. Unseeded Ridhima posed a tough competition for the 2nd Seed in finals.
    Boys Singles U-13
    Vishvesh Aswal (seed ¾) secured easy win in the match against Jhashank Kashyup (seed 3/4) Scores:- 21-15, 21-15.
    Girls Singles U-13
    Divyanshi Joshi beat Divyanshi Rajwar in straight sets 21-16, 21-11.
    Boys Singles U-15
    2nd seed Karan Negi defeated Antash Shrivastava 21-14, 21-15.
    Girls Singles U-15
    Top seed Aakarshi Kashyap beat 2nd seed Unnati Bisht in one more dual and emerged victorious with scores 21-12, 19-21, 21-10.

    The action will continue in the next leg of PNB MetLife Junior Badminton Championship with launch in Mumbai starting December 15, 2015. With this, PNB MetLife Junior Badminton Championship will have its top forty(40) shuttlers for the finale.
