Badminton Association of India (BAI) ratings for Indian Singles Under-17 categories place Aakarshi at Rank 1 & Jagadeesh at Rank 4; Vaishnavi at Rank 2 in Under-15 Girls Singles category

New Delhi, September 27, 2016: Vaishnavi Reddy, Jagadeesh Kalaga and Aakarshi Kashyap, stars of PNB MetLife Junior Badminton Championship (JBC), have been selected to represent India in Blibli.com Badminton Asia U15 & U17 Junior Championships 2016 to be held at Kudus, Indonesia from 5th to 9th October 2016.

According to Badminton Association of India (BAI) rankings*, Vaishnavi Reddy, the brand ambassador of PNB MetLife Junior Badminton Championship, is at number 3 with 1397 ranking points* in Girls Singles Under-15 category. Aakarshi Kashyap, who lifted twin titles in National Girls Under-15 & Under-17 categories, is at rank 1 with 2147 ranking points*.

Jagadeesh Kalaga, the National Boys Under-17 champion, moved up to rank 4 with 1667 ranking points*.

Jagadeesh also secured the coveted PNB MetLife badminton scholarship 2016 which has provided him with valuable support for his training, equipment and other expenses.

All 3 talented youngsters will be attending the National coaching camp from September 20th to October 2nd 2016 at BBD UP Badminton Academy, Lucknow to prepare for the International tournament.

In April 2016, PNB MetLife Junior Badminton Championship announced National winners in 10 categories along with providing badminton scholarship to 16 talented under-privileged children to help them pursue the sport and develop necessary skills. The tournament, held in 8 different cities of India, promoted badminton at the grassroots level by reaching out to around 5800 young shuttlers.
