Satara‚ June 10‚ 2015: PNB MetLife Satara Hill Half Marathon 2015 returns with over 3500 people already registering for the same from across the country. The 4th edition of this popular event‚ which adds glamour and excitement to Satara‚ has been sponsored by PNB MetLife‚ among the leading life insurance companies‚ and will be held on Sunday‚ the 6th September 2015. Internationally recognized and much loved by the rapidly growing running community of India‚ the PNB MetLife Satara Hill Half Marathon 2015 draws participants from cities all over India‚ as well as International runners from around the world. Due to popular demand‚ the dates for Local as well as Online registration have been extended till 15th June 2015.
To kick off the pre-event activities and help the runners‚ the organizers announced the launch of the Marathon Training Workshop to be held on Sunday‚ the 14th June 2015 from 9 am till 12 pm. The workshop will help with training tips for the seasoned as well the first time runners and will also be useful for people who have not yet registered or are apprehensive about not being able to run the distance. The workshop will be conducted by renowned running and fitness experts from Mumbai and Pune at the Y.C College of Science‚ Satara. The registered runners are expected to start their 12 weeks training schedule from the 15th of June 2015.
Speaking on the occasion XXXX (from SHM)‚ “This is our 4th year in running and we are delighted with the support from PNB MetLife to help us with this iconic event. I appeal to all the residents of Satara to register in large numbers and attend the free Training Workshop to prepare for the same. This year we have had an overwhelming response and due to shortage of hotel rooms in Satara‚ we are helping the participants with accommodation in Wai‚ Panchgani‚ Mahabaleshwar‚ Karad‚ etc.″

The event is being organised by the Marathon Association Satara and is recognised by the IAAF (International Amateur Athletic Federation). It is one of the few Marathon events in the country to have the distinction of being a member of the AIMS (Association of International Marathons and Distance races). The enthusiasm for the event has reached a feverish pitch among outstation participants. The Organisers have given a hefty concession to local runners for registration‚ as well as announced special prizes for Local Satara Runners in the prestigious and challenging Half Marathon Category to promote “Running for Health and Happiness″.
