Satara‚ September 6‚ 2015: PNB MetLife Satara Hill Half Marathon 2015 sets a new record for the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for the " Most people in a mountain run – single -mountain . The 4th edition of the popular Satara Half Hill Marathon, sponsored by PNB MetLife‚ among the leading life insurance companies‚ was held on Sunday‚ the 6th September 2015 . Internationally recognized and much loved by the rapidly growing running community of India, this year the PNB MetLife Satara Hill Half Marathon 2015 drew more than 2600 participants from all over India‚ as well as international runners from around the world, beating the record of 2122 participants previously held in Gujarat. Biruk Jitar, Tamrat Gudeta, Gudisa Debele, Fikirte Dechasa, Birtukan Wake and Shiferanw Birtukan were the top over-all finishers in the Male and Female categories, taking away prizes of Rs. 1,50,000, Rs. 1,00,000 and Rs. 75,000, respectively. Honorable MP, Satara, Mr. Udayanraje Bhosale and Mr. Subhashish Acharya‚ Chief Distribution Officer‚ PNB MetLife , flagged off the marathon and felicitated the winners along with Dr. Chandrashekhar Ghorpade, President SHHM .

The challenging and unique nature of the course sets it apart from all other half marathons organised anywhere in the country. Together, we have made efforts to improve and enhance the overall experience of runners participating in this much loved event in India’s ever expanding and growing running calendar.”
Details of the Marathon:
The event was organised by the Marathon Association Satara and is recognised by the IAAF (International Amateur Athletic Federation). It is one of the few Marathon events in the country to have the distinction of being a member of the AIMS (Association of International Marathons and Distance races). The Associate / Gold Sponsors for the event are DSK GROUP and GOVIND MILK.
More than 5,000 participants across three participation categories – Half Marathon, 7.5 kms Dash and the Fun Run took part in the marathon. The Half Marathon further had three categories – Top Over-all Finishers (including Indian and Overseas Elite runners), Top Indian Finishers (# only for Indian finishers residing in India, irrespective of age and Indian Finishers having Age-wise Group Categories. The 7.5 kms dash had participation categories as per the age, with the youngest participant as old as 10 years.
